Barbara Brown Obituary

Barbara Jean Brown, loving wife, mother and friend, died in her home surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, June 6, 2008.

Barbara was born March 1, 1952, in Santa Clara, Calif., to the late Virginia Schneider and Harry Alfinito. She graduated from Santa Clara High School and was married to her high school sweetheart, Fred Brown, on Nov. 24, 1973.

Barbara was delighted to be a mom. She was an engaged and active mother of two sons, Jeffery and David Brown. She nurtured her family with a strong set of values, a great sense of humor and a cupboard full of cookies and cupcakes. She was thrilled to gain a daughter when Jeff married Kristi Hendrix. She was eagerly anticipating the addition of a new daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ouellette, next summer and the birth of her first grandson next month. Barbara and Fred enjoyed their big extended family, their traveling adventures and their annual attempts at mastering ballroom dancing.

Barbara was known for her holiday traditions and the elaborate feasts she cooked for her family and friends. She was a gifted cake decorator and chocolatier. Barb's personalized chocolates were her signature and a cherished addition to every social event.

Barbara was accomplished at sign language and worked as an aid at Simi Elementary with the hearing impaired.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 34 years, Fred Brown; sons, Jeffery and David Brown; daughter-in-law Kristi Brown and future daughter-in-law Carolyn Ouellette; sister, Jeanette Vieira; brother, Steven Alfinito; mother and father-in-law, Brinton and Phyllis Brown; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-laws; 11 nieces; eight nephews; two grand-nieces; and one grand-nephew.

We will miss her; she will always be our Barbara; she will remain in our hearts and in our chocolate indulgences.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 at Saint Rose of Lima.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Barbara's name to the American Cancer Society.

We would like to thank all our family and friends who have surrounded us with a cushion of love and support.

Dearest Fred, Jeffery, David, Kristi and Carolyn

Words cannot and will not say what my heart feels. We were so blessed to have Barb in our life and to love her as we do and will always. I can only tell you that I am here if you need anything. I cannot ever take the place she holds in you life but will do what I am asked to do to fill her shoes. Which will be a very big job. You know I love each one of you and am here for you. You are in my prayers and daily thoughts. With all my love, Debbie

Dear Fred, Jeff and David, Please accept sincere condolences from the entire Lipking family. Barbara will always remain in my heart as treasured friend from the day we moved across the street from you 28 years ago. Fred and Barbara came over immediately to introduce themselves with Jeff in tow to help put up the new swing set and the rest was history! I will never forget that day and all the wonderful times after that. You couldn't have had a better, more dedicated mom. Again, we are so sorry for your loss. Love, Cathy

To Fred, Jeffery, David, my daughter Kristi, and the entire Brown family,
Words cannot express the loss you have shared. My daughter, Kristi, was so fortunate to marry into such a caring and loving family. I've shared her joys, and laughed at some of the funniest stories. Losing Barbara is defintely one of your family's saddest days. She was and still is, an exceptional woman, mother, and the love of her husband's life. She always gave her "all" to everything she did, and as a result has left some great memories for everyone to remember. As a family, I know you will all pull together, as you've often had to do, and will overcome your grief with "love". God bless and keep you, Barbara.

I am so sorry for your loss. By reading this on line; it was evident how loving a person she was and how much she was loved. She will live on in each of you.
My deepest sympathy.
