Though I didn't know Bernard, after reading and hearing about his achievements and personality in the news, I was reminded of my best friend and my nephew. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. You were all very fortunate to have known Bernard and had him as a part of your lives, even if only for a short time. Per aspera ad astra.

I first met him in the HAFS SAT Camp in Korea, and unfortunately that was the last time I got to see him. He was a bright, energetic classmate and it was an honour to have him as a part of the group. Although we did not talk much afterwards, it was devastating, and still is, to hear that he passed away ... You will be forever remembered - rest in peace.

The loss of such a remarkable young man has rattled our community to the core. Our hearts break for sweet Bernard's loved ones. I have heard Bernard's name since the kids were in 6th grade, when my daughter Annsley started to talk about her brilliant, kind, sweet classmate. They continued to be in other classes. We are so very sorry for the huge loss to your family and our community. These kids will never forget Bernard's smiling face. May you find peace in knowing the impact your son has provided to so many in his short 18 years.

I grew up on the California central coast in the 50's and early '60's. With dear friends (still) in Thousand Oaks, I spent considerable time there. Those friends also hosted me many times while in the Marine Corps. Such a beautiful town with friendly people and it hurts my heart that such a tragedy happened there. I offer my condolences to the Moon family, their friends, and the people who knew him. May the peace that passeth understanding fall upon them and help them through this most difficult time.

Bernard tutored my son Jack this past school year three times a week. He was with us on Monday, and our last conversation was about his Bollywood dance in the talent show... we had a few laughs about it, and the last thing I said to him was, you really know how to have fun and live life! That was very clear. He was such a lovely lovely young man with such a bright future, and a HUGE positive role model for my son. He is missed, and we are heart broken. May his family find peace and heal from this terrible loss.
