Isabel "Chavela" Contreras, dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on March 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87. Isabel was born to Juan and Liboria M. Cisneros on Feb. 16, 1927 in San Benito, Texas.
Isabel is survived by her children: Heriberto "Eddie" of Oxnard, Jose "Joe" Contreras of Oakhurst, John (Becky) Contreras of Oxnard, Paul (Carol) Contreras of Oakhurst. Grandchildren: Mark Lamb (Candace) of Arkansas, Justin (Martha), Jason and Jill (Steven) Contreras all of Oxnard. Great-Grandchildren: Tabatha Lamb of Arkansas, Alyssa Gonzalez, Clarrissa and Justin Jr. Contreras all of Oxnard. Her brother Miguel Cisneros of Lansing, Michigan and sister Maria C. Gonzales of San Benito, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Encarnacion Contreras in 2001, her great-granddaughter Kassandra Contreras in 1997, brothers Jose, Ezequiel, Roberto and Juan Jr. Cisneros and her parents Juan and Liboria Cisneros.
Special thanks to her main caregiver, her eldest son Heriberto "Eddie" Contreras, to the Vitas Hospice staff and Dr. Todd Yates & Leslie from Ventura County Hematology-Oncology Specialist Medical Group.
Services will be held at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E Daily Dr, Camarillo, Ca 93010 on Friday, March 21, 2014 with viewing from 10 - 11 a.m., service at 11 a.m. and burial at Conejo Mountain Memorial Cemetery, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, Ca 93012 to follow.Arrangements were made with the assistance of Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, Camarillo.
