Jonathan Davies died peacefully at home on April 26, 2017. He left behind his parents, Fred and Donna Davies, his brother Christopher Davies (Veronika), his niece Sasha and nephew Sebastian Davies, all of Ventura. Jon was born in Connecticut on November 11, 1972; he attended Vermont Academy and then Springfield College. Throughout his life, Jon loved the outdoors and going as fast as possible whether biking, skiing, or racing his All Terrain Vehicle. In 1992, while driving his motorcycle, he sustained a severe brain injury. He completed a long period of rehabilitation before buying Red House Kennels. Jon loved working with both the animals and the many customers he got to know well.

Jon had to retire from this business after 12 years when his seizures, secondary to the brain injury, became uncontrollable. It was a very difficult loss, compounding the depression which he struggled with since his accident. After moving to California in 2007, Jon attended Ventura College and became active with the Brain Injury Center. Through public speaking and his writing, he effectively increased awareness of brain injury. Though his life with us was too short, he left us many wonderful memories of his wry humor, his laughter, his love of his pets, his gift in working with children and animals, his beautiful garden and his poetry.

Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Jon's Life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 5 to 7 at 350 Paseo de Playa, Ventura.
