Michael Andrew (Drew) Parsons

Sometime on January 3rd a parent's worst nightmare came true when our son Drew Parsons died in his sleep due to complications of diabetes. Drew was born on September 10, 1978 at the old Saint John's Hospital in Oxnard. He was smart, kind, thoughtful, stubborn, sometimes into mischief but always a loving son. Drew attended school in the Hueneme and Ventura Unified School Districts. He completed the Culinary Program at Oxnard College, receiving awards from the National Restaurant Association. Drew worked for many years in the food industry. Drew had eclectic taste in music and movies and amassed hundreds and hundreds of CD's and DVD's. He enjoyed spending time with his dad, Andy. They would build things, work on cars, and work in the garden, watch football or just talk about life. Drew was a lifelong reader and his favorites were any book by Stephen King and the "Clan of the Cave Bear" series. Drew loved being with his friends and family and he loved his solitude as well. His greatest joy was the birth of his daughter, Taylor Prater. Though Drew did not have the traditional relationship with Taylor, he loved her with all of his heart and was so thankful to Kali and Travis Prater, for raising such a fine daughter. Drew always had some kind of pet including snakes, chameleon, and exotic fish but mostly he loved dogs. His family is devastated at this unexpected loss. Drew is survived by his mom, Colleen Robertson (Gerry), dad, Andy Parsons (Sue), sister Kate Glaser (Brandon), Grandfather David Garner (Ardi), Aunts: Dotty Clark (Ken), Patsy Wagner, Uncles: David Garner (Janene), Tommy Garner (Cindy), Richard Garner (Terri), loving cousins, Johnny (who was more like a brother), Jennifer, Danny, Adam, Brent, Stephen, Rachel, David, Kevin, Heather, Miranda, and Robby and so many wonderful, lifelong friends. Drew's mom and dad, and Gerry and Sue would like to thank you for being a part of Drew's life and a special thanks to Barb DeGraw, the folks at Somis Union School District, & Peter Lars and his amazing family and staff at Cornerstone Studios.
