Philip Brian Willmarth, born November 3rd 1937 in Toledo Ohio, passed away March 15th 2009.
A 47 year resident of Ventura County, Philip moved to California at the end of his tour of duty with the United States Air Force. During those years, he worked as a civilian contractor in the aircraft maintenance field with various companies at Point Mugu Naval Air Station.
He is survived by his daughter Stevina of Tacoma Washington, his sons Martin of Tacoma Washington and Richard of Surprise Arizona, his step-daughter Tina and his niece Lisa both of whom he considered his own daughters, his grandchildren, Philip, Jaqueline, Irish, Isabella, Vincent and Helena, and his brother Rick of Toledo Ohio.
Philip was a wonderful father and friend who was always there for those he loved. His guidance, warm heart, sense of humor and most especially the sense of self worth he imparted upon his children will be sorely missed until we meet again.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20th at 11am at The American Legion Oxnard Post 48, Oxnard, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Margie and I met Phil when I was a Freshmen at Macomber High School. Phil was a Sophomore and we became friends immediately. For the next four year Phil, his brothers (Rick and Dedo), myself and numereous friends hung around the corner of South Street and Spencer Street going from Inkes to K&Q's Restrautrants. Although we did some crazy things Phil was always the level headed one. Phil was a happy person and a good friend. The memories of that time, and the things we did together seems like yesterday. After high school Phil went into the Airforce and I went into the Navy. Although Phil stayed in California we never lost contact with each other. Phil always enjoyed talking about and remembering his childhood days in the Southend of Toledo. When one of our friends would pass on Phil would always say PeeWee "we have lost a little bit of our past" To have a friend like Phil in my life has been a great privilege and I will miss him the rest of my life.
To Phils's family I know that Phil is united with his family and friends that have gone before him. May God grant you peace and comfort during this time of great sadness.

I had the honor of meeting Phil through a friendship with "his favorite niece and best friend" Lisa.He allowed me into his life and a friendship was born.He taught me many things including integrity, compassion, courage and sacrifice. He gave me a little bit of himself and wasnt to overcome w/ panic when I busted in and demanded more.He always enriched, empowered and encouraged me and i attained to emulate his example.I like to think that he considered me a pesky but true friend. He gave us all a little piece of his heart and will always have a place in mine.He will be missed.

To the Family of Phil.
I worked with Phil for about 10 years at Dynalectron and then GTSI. Between 1984 thru 1994. He was a great friend and mentor to me...... Especially when we lost Bob Barone, and Paul Stewart. He kept everyone together.

"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam. And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it...."
I only remember seeing Uncle Phil once when I was a teenager and my dad, Dedo, had passed away. They looked so much alike I remember thinking it was my dad for a moment. He knew what a hard time I was going through and was so sweet and kind to me. At that moment he left a permanent mark on me. Thought distance seperated our families, I thought of him and missed him often. It always warmed my heart to receive pictures and news of his life and family through my mom and brother. He always seemed in good spirits no matter the situation. We will all miss him.

I wish I would have had a chance to see Uncle Phil before he passed away. The last time I saw him was at Grandma Helen's funeral. I had talked to him a few times and emailed him a few times since I saw him last, but that's it. I will remember him for his sense of humor and being in a good mood no matter what was going on at the time. My dad thought a lot of his brothers and he gave me Uncle Dave's name and Uncle Phil's middle name, Brian. I will miss him. Love all of you.
Love,

To Phil's kids, grandkids and Lisa, I know you miss him. I miss him even tho I haven't seen him in years. It was always a joy to get his emails and pictures of the family. He loved you all. He always emailed what you all were up to and especially those grandchildren, he bragged! I'm so sorry about his death. I believe he is happy being united with his mom and Dedo and the rest of his family that has already gone. We were separated in miles but we loved him very much.

While Phil worked at the IMA Technical Library at Point Mugu, I had the pleasure of knowing him and being helped by him in finding information in those complex naval technical books. Phil was a Gentleman and I consider it a privilege to have known him. To his family: Please accept my condolences on the loss of you father, grandfather.
