On Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, Richard Daniel Beltran, 54, stepped into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while surrounded by his family. He had been anticipating going home and seeing his beloved mother and leaving his days with cancer behind. We would say that Richard was called much too early into the presence of the Lord, and yet we know that it was he who called Richard, to relieve him from the pain he was going through. His life was filled with laughter and love for all, especially his grandchildren.
Richard was a longtime manager of Oxnard Metal Co. His passions were a good barbecue (rain or shine), friends, neighbors and his dog, Sissy, but his heart belonged to his daughter, Erica; and son, Brian. His most cherished possessions were his grandchildren, Brittni, Zachary and Hannah. To Zack he would say, "Truck!" He was also extremely proud of his number one son-in-law, Michael. He enjoyed being with people and helping them any way he could.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mary D. Salazar; father, Guadalupe C. Beltran; stepfather, George Salazar; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his precious daughter, Erica Gregson; husband Mike of Somis; son, Brian Beltran of Oxnard; grandchildren, Brittni Herrera, Zachary and Hannah Gregson of Somis, who were his reasons for living; brothers, Ronald Beltran of Santa Barbara, Robert Beltran of Port Hueneme, Ralph Beltran of Camarillo, Lupe Beltran of Oxnard, John Beltran of Oxnard and Roger Beltran of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Maryellen Contreras of Oxnard, Frances Castillo of Fresno and Alma Padilla of Oxnard; and ex-wife Jeneil Beltran of Oxnard. He leaves a big void in our lives, but our faith in God our Savior and the hope of seeing him again will sustain us.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Feb. 15, at Griffin Family Mortuary, 1075 E. Daily Drive, Camarillo, CA 93010. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, with the Rev. Lupe Beltran officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Family Mortuary.

Mike, Erika and kids...Tim just called me to tell me about the passing of your father. I am so sorry and feel so terrible that I didn't even know he was sick. I have let many friendships slip away and for that I am truly sorry. I know the pain that comes with the loss of a parent....and no matter what the circumstance is, it is still so very hard. Allow him to live through you....and keep his memory alive. Take care my friend and remember, he is only a breath away.

Erica and Brian, We want both of you to know our prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Your Auntie Tonia and I both know how hard it is when someone you love so much and depend on is no longer there. Yes we all Loved your Dad very much and of course will miss him greatly. I am very happy I was able to spend sometime with him last month. Even with all he was going through at the time, he still managed to make us all laugh, just like he always did. Our love and prayers go out to you both. Uncle Roger and Aunt Tonia

I will always remember Uncle Richard's witty remarks from Thanksgiving 07. I did not know him very well, but what an everlasting impression he made upon me. He was a humorous and loving man. Boy, did he love his grandchildren... I kept commenting to MaryEllen that he looked so healthy and because of his great attitude, how could he have cancer??? Unfortunatley, cancer takes its victims fast - maybe it is a good thing. My uncle passed 1 year ago on January 30, 2007 from cancer. God Bless the Beltran family and now son and mom rest in peace together.

Oh Erica,
I was sad to read about your dad, but I do remember your family from our 4th grade year at Community Christian School in Oxnard. I'm sure your dad was so proud of all you have become. You and Brian will now be his legacy to the Beltran name. Please know that I am praying for you. God will bless you through this.

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to Richard Beltran's Family. I was so sorry to see this in the paper today - I went to school with Richard at Larsen, Blackstock, and CI. He was my hero in 6th grade - another kid was going to chase me home but Richard kept him at school so he couldn't! He was the nicest guy in school - friends with everyone. Richard had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be in class with. I'll miss seeing Richard at our class reunions but I'm so glad he is with Heavenly Father now and not in pain. May God bless you all during this very sad time.
Sincerely,
Sam Ontiveros

Erica, Brian & Family
I know our hearts hurt so very, very much as we all love your Dad, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa and Jason's Nino in a way beyond how we thought our hearts could ever love. It's so easy to love this way when we were all given such a caring, loving and generous person to have in our lives. We have all been so fortunate to have him for the time we have even though he was taken way to soon. The Dear Lord knew that he has done his job here and was needed back with him with no more pain, just a happy man. Cherish the years and years of happy memories that we all have and hold them dear to your hearts. I love you Erica and Brian and remember he will always forever be with you. You both are so precious to him and always will be. You were his gifts and his loves of his lifetime. My prayers will always be with you both, along with the entire Beltran family. We all have such a huge loss but now have a perfect Angel to watch over us.
Love,
Aunt Nette, Jeanette (Bird) Williams
