Rose Mary Applegate, a lovely woman with the sweetest smile, passed on to heaven on the morning of March 8, 2006.
Rosie spent her final days here in the comfort of her home with her family by her side helping to ease her suffering from cancer.
Born to French emigrant Jean Pierre Erramouspe and Mariana Erramouspe in Ventura in 1912, Rosie attended Holy Cross and Ventura Union High School. Rosie's marriage to Clarence Applegate (deceased 1979) brought them two children, Kenneth (deceased 1967) and John. Her life was filled with dedication to her family as wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her special passions were to garden, crochet, embroider, and take long walks enjoying the outdoors.
Rosie leaves behind her son John Applegate; grandchildren, Brian Applegate and Sheri Applegate; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Michael (age 8), Jackson Charles (age 3), and Madeline Mary Applegate (age 9 mos.).
The Applegate family wished to acknowledge the loving and constant care provided to Rosie by Taryn Azure Reed, fiancee to Brian Applegate. Taryn Azure dedicated her days and nights to Rosie's care and comfort, allowing Rosie to spend her final weeks in her own home; all the while Taryn Azure cared for her own young children, Jackson and Madeline Mary. Providing guidance and support to Taryn Azure were the people at Assisted Home Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Joseph Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main St., three blocks east of California St., in downtown Ventura. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Brian, Sheri and family:
By chance, I came accross this newspaper article on the internet reporting the loss of your grandmother. My sympathy's are with you and your family. I recalled meeting you in the 1980s when you were both small children. I hope your lovely memories of your grandmother help you during this difficult time. I too lost my grandmother to cancer in 1999. With sympathy, Tami Applegate-Espinoza
