Walter “Scott” Goldie III, a Camarillo resident, passed away on Jan. 19, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard due to complications from heart disease. He was 64 years old. Goldie was a successful businessman, real estate broker and sales manager in Ventura County for 30 years. He is remembered as a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Goldie was born on Nov. 15, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to Malcolm and Edna Goldie. He spent his adolescent years with his three siblings, Larry, Jimmy, and Janet, in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., and graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 1963. Goldie was married on three separate occasions: in 1966 to Melody McClain, resulting in daughter, Lisa Goldie; in 1969 to Marilyn Matson, resulting in sons, David Goldie and Scott Goldie; and lastly in 1980 to Stephanie Lietz in Monterey, Calif. The third time was the charm as the two celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in 2008.
A self-trained businessman, Goldie earned his real estate brokers license in 1977. Over the next three decades, he managed and sold several of Oxnard’s largest residential housing developments including “Harborwalk” in the Channel Islands Marina, “Harbor West,” “The Colony at Mandalay Bay,” and “Harborside.” Yet throughout his life he battled health problems. As a child, he suffered from rheumatic fever, which left his heart damaged. In the 1980s and 1990s, he endured four open heart surgeries to repair and replace leaking heart valves. His last open heart procedure was in 1997. In 2008, Goldie retired from real estate and enjoyed an active and fulfilling life with his wife and family.
Goldie is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Lisa; sons, David and Scott; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katherine Brady. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Eden Cemetery in Mission Hills, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, phone number is 1-800-AHA-USA1.

Dear Stephanie:
My heart goes out to you and your family.
Scott, Tom, and I go back a long way when we all worked together at C21 on Channel Islands. I remember when you and Scott were dating and we all had the best time together. I remember back in 1980 when Scott got really sick and we all went down to St. Johns Hospital to give blood. You never left his side for a moment and I told Scott right then that you were a keeper and he should waste no time in getting married to you. I am glad he took my good advice. You and Scott had a lot of wonderful years together. I know he will be missed by all that knew him.
