Jennifer L. Meagher
Windsor, VT - Jennifer L. Meagher, 55, died on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on January 6, 1970, in Denville, NJ to parents John and Catherine "Kathie" (Bald) Scanlon and lived in Andover, NJ. They were long-standing members of the Craigmeur Ski Club and spent the majority of their winters enjoying skiing in Vermont. Jennifer's love of Vermont helped to influence her undergraduate college decision, St. Michael's College in Colchester. It was there, on St. Patrick's Day in 1992, that she met the love of her life, Matt Meagher, and 3 years later, on January 28, 1995, they married in Norwich, VT. She continued her education at Seton Hall University School of Law in NJ and graduated with her J.D., also in 1995.
Their family grew to include five children, and Jennifer chose to focus on being present with them, quickly becoming the do-it-all Supermom. Those early years were cherished times, even as she expertly ran the entire household for a year as Matt was deployed. She was a skilled swimmer and skier and introduced their children to the joy of water and the slopes at an early age. She taught herself culinary skills and fearlessly challenged herself with new techniques and recipes…baking 20 or more pies for a fundraiser, creating wedding cakes for her children, and Saturday morning breakfasts for the full football team without breaking stride or a sweat. In recent years she enjoyed spending her free time at the lake, boating or soaking up the sun with her family. Every impromptu Sunday dinner, cookout beside Ashuelot Pond, birthdays and holidays…her energy and love helped to make these moments special.
The family moved to Lyme, NH in 1998 and finished building their home in Windsor in 2003. Jennifer immediately dedicated herself to the spirit of the Windsor community and enjoyed countless hours on the sidelines cheering on her kids (related or not) on various athletic fields. She was never just a spectator, however, as she was always involved in doing more - whether it be boosters or making sure the team had sandwiches for the bus ride home, and was named volunteer of the year by the Windsor Recreation Department in 2016.
Nearly 20 years after obtaining her J.D., she sat for the Vermont Bar in July 2014 and was admitted in January 2015. She was a thorough and committed partner with Boxer, Blake, & Moore PLLC with a focus on employment law and workers' compensation defense and truly enjoyed her work. Throughout the many roles Jennifer took on during her life, she exhibited true kindness, compassion, selflessness, and demonstrated (and expected) accountability. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, colleagues, clients, and community.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Meagher of Windsor; five children, Rachel Wierzbicki and husband Daniel of West Windsor, Brian Meagher and wife Ashleigh of West Windsor, Jacob Meagher and fiancé Brooke Winter of Windsor, Benjamin Meagher and girlfriend Cali Cardenas of Brooklyn, NY, and Caleb Meagher of Windsor; three grandchildren, Camden, Nora, and Wesley; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Jennifer's life will be announced later this summer. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Windsor Recreation Department, 29 Union St., Windsor, VT 05089.
