Gloria Brickman Obituary

Gloria Brickman

November 9, 1926 - June 17, 2023

Gloria Brickman passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the age of 96 at her residence in Waco.

Her family invites you to join them for a service at 10 a.m.  Sunday, June 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Due to the excessive heat, the main service will be held indoors, followed by a very brief graveside committal ceremony at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery.

Gloria was born November 9, 1926, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Ethel Livingston and Louie Yale Feinstein. She moved to Waco in 1938 and attended the West Waco Junior High School. She graduated from Waco High School in 1942. Gloria initially matriculated at the University of Texas at Austin where she joined the Sigma Delta Tau Sorority. In 1944, she transferred to Baylor University where she met Nathan Brickman. They were married on December 15, 1946.

Gloria was a lifelong member of Temple Rodef Sholom. She taught Sunday School and served as the President and Treasurer of the Temple Sisterhood. Gloria was a candy striper volunteer at Providence Hospital. She co-chaired the first Cattle Baron's Ball, which was held in Waco to benefit the American Cancer Society. Gloria was a licensed real estate agent and worked for Jim Stewart Real Estate in Waco for many years.

Gloria had a full life. She and Nathan travelled the world with their family and dearest friends, taking great joy from exploring new destinations and deepening their bonds with the people who meant the most to them. Her family will cherish the beautiful stories her loved ones will share in remembrance.

Gloria is survived by her daughters, Beverly Hicks and Marilyn Nachman; sons-in-law, Larry Hicks and George Nachman; grandchildren, Hadley Quagliarello and husband, Mark Quagliarello, Yale Hicks and wife, Senem Hicks, Kelley Hicks, Blake Rawdin and wife, Orianne Dutka, Brooke Rawdin and fiancé, Jonathan Arce; great-grandchildren, Avery Quagliarello, Olivia Quagliarello, Ela Hicks, and Elyse Rawdin; sister-in-law, Bobbye Brickman; niece, Becky Myers; and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nathan Brickman.

The family is particularly grateful to their "angel," Lidia Cavazos, who lived with Gloria for over seven years. Lidia became a member of the family through caring for Gloria with great devotion, love, and compassion.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our "Tribute Wall" at www.WHBfamily.com.
