Robert Abel Obituary
Bob was born March 21, 1928, in Marlin, to Fred C. and Adela (Stein) Abel. He served in the Marine Corps for two years and married Norma J. Bearden on April 10, 1948, in Houston. He worked at Hughes Tool Co. for 10 years, Alamo Steel and Machine for 13 years, and retired from the maintenance department at TSTC. He was a Union Ironworker, a member of American Legion and was a longtime member of Sparks Memorial Methodist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his youngest son, Kevin Scott Abel, on May 4, 1986; his brother, Walter Abel; and two sisters, Gladys Squires and Evelyn Marie Lynch.
Survivors include his sons, Rick Abel and wife, Marilyn, of Waco, and Charles R. Abel and wife, Audrey, of Houston; sister, Lillian Stroble of Temple; grandsons, Chris Abel and wife, Erica, and Robby Abel and wife, Whitney, all of Waco; great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Kassidy, Wesley and Dylan; and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of Sparks Memorial Methodist Church.

My prayers are with you all. I knew Bob and Norma by going to church with them and Norma and Bob were my second set of parents. Both were there for me when my mom passed away. I loved them both dearly and do and will miss them so very much. May the peace and comfort be with all of you that only GOD can give.

My condolences to Bob's family. Bob was a wonderful man & a near perfect husband to Norma. I so enjoyed visits with them over the years at Evalyn's home (in Riesel or in Waco).Being married for 64 years was a great example to all their friends & family.He is now rejoicing in Heaven with his JESUS & his Norma. We will miss their beautiful smiling faces, but we'll join them one day.
