Arthur Rehkemper Obituary

On August 5, 2024, Arthur Rehkemper was welcomed into heaven after several years fighting dementia. He was 80 and died peacefully at home in Catonsville, MD.
Art was born in Pana IL and spent some of his childhood as an Air Force"brat". The family settled in District Heights, MD in the 50s and he attended Mt Calvary, Gonzaga and Archbishop Carroll schools. He graduated from the University Of Maryland and was a lifelong TERP fan. He loved the Redskins and Nationals as well.
He was bright , articulate and athletic.
He spent his life in the law enforcement community, first as a Prince George County Policeman, moving on to the US Secret Service for almost 30 years and finally in the Peace Corps Inspector General's office helping volunteers have a safer and more secure experience. As a Secret Service Agent, he had a wide variety of assignments from protection details to fraud and counterfeiting, forensics and inspections. He loved every day of work and was very proud to be an Agent!
His happy place was his cottage on the Susquehanna River in PA. He was cook. Bartender. Fixit man. Boat Captain and tour guide searching for bald eagles and Pop to his family and friends!
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Betty, and their sons, Andy and David and their families as well as a close group of friends who were also family for so many years.
A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
