BRIAN O'HARA Obituary

BRIAN J. O'HARA "Brett" (Age 47)
A resident of Crofton, MD, died on Sunday, September 16, 2018, of a malignant brain tumor. Brett was born in Libertyville, IL and pursued his undergraduate studies at St. Olaf College. He was pursuing his doctorate at the University of Notre Dame in Economics in 1995 when the oligodendroglioma was first discovered. Brett underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation and returned to his studies, earning his Ph.D. in 2000. He was passionate about health and disability research, specifically the economic effects of major illnesses and health insurance coverage. Brett worked for the federal government for 19 years, 16 of those at the Census Bureau. Brett was a loyal and true friend to many. However, Brett's greatest joy was being a father to his children, Eva (18) and Aengus (12). He was loving and dedicated to raising his children, pushing past the neurological effects of his illness. Brett's memorial gathering will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 29, 2018, at the Hardesty Funeral Home in Annapolis, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center, Hospice of the Chesapeake (https://www.hospicechesapeake.org/).

I am so sorry for the late reply but just learning of Brett's passing.
Sending my deepest sympathy to Amy, Eva, Aengus, Barb, Brian, Maggi, Colleen and all of your families.
I will always remember Brett's laughter and love for his family and the many good times on Hemlock Lane in IL. Brett's love of learning and love for God and the Bible they he gave me my senior year in high school. His love of art - I still have a few of his pieces from college and his love of travel- remembering his trip to Ireland when he travelled abroad. Please know your whole family will be in my prayers.

I didn't know Brett as well others but I knew him to be smart and funny and genuine. He had a great wit that half the time I wasn't sure if he was laughing at a comment I made or at me for saying something silly. My son Luke went to Crofton Woods with Aengus and he is one of the sweetest kids we've known. Aengus was a fan of the Nats before they had any good players and I always liked that about him. Brett will be missed and in my family's thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to Amy, Eva, Aengus, Barb, and family. I am going to miss Brett's dry witty humor, and his laughter and love for the little things.. May you all know that you are surrounded by friends.
