CAROL CHRISTINE AGGOUR "Chris"

Of Silver Spring, MD, born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada on November 13, 1945, passed away among her family on Friday, December 23, 2022. She was a graduate of the University of Calgary in Alberta, majoring in English and History. While a college student Chris worked in the University library where she would eventually meet her husband, Sherif. After moving to Maryland with her husband and children Chris worked for over 20 years for the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), first for the Space Physics department, and eventually retiring as the head administrator of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.



Chris is survived by her husband of 54 years, Professor M. Sherif Aggour of the Department of Civil Engineering at UMCP, her daughter Lora Aggour and partner Abbey May of Sterling, VA, and son Kareem Aggour of Niskayuna, NY. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Ayyoub, Nadia, Morgan, and Samantha. She was predeceased by her parents Einar Melvin Overn and Wilma Jean (Groves) Overn, and sister Katherine Lynn Erickson.



Chris loved music, playing the piano and singing at family reunions and gatherings, and enjoyed playing card games with her family and friends. She also thoroughly enjoyed puzzles and mind-teasers, especially with her grandchildren. She was an avid sports player in her youth, playing competitive basketball, softball, and swimming in Canada.
