He was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Loudoun Board of Superviosrs and afterwards was elected to a full term. In 1976, he was one of the co-leaders of the first August Court Days. During August Court Days, his dream of having concerts on the Loudoun Courthouse lawn was first realized and ultimately he was instrumental in bringing the Bluemont Summer Concert Series to Leesburg. He was on the board and started the newsletter for the Loudoun Preservation Society, and he served on the board for the Loudoun Restoration and Preservation Society.
A lifelong golfer and member of Stoneleigh Golf Club, Chuck also enjoyed house projects and fixing up the circa 1830s family home. He loved travel, especially trips with Marilyn in their VW camper. He was a 40-year member of the Porsche Club of America. He thoroughly enjoyed music, with tastes ranging from Fats Domino to Bach.
