Daryl Wright Obituary

December 25, 1965—July 23, 2025
Born on Christmas Day to the late Clarence and Maudie Wright, Daryl was a proud native Washingtonian. He was educated in Prince George's County, Maryland, Public School System, graduating from DuVal High School. He also was a graduate of South Carolina State University (Class of 1988). For more than 50 years, he was a devoted member of Springfield Baptist Church.

Daryl was appointed to the Washington, DC Commission on Poverty and served on the boards of the Better Way Program Recovery Support Services and the HOPE Foundation Reentry Network.

He was senior vice president for outreach at So Others Might Eat (SOME), using his powerful voice, dynamic personality and empathetic heart to serve, connect, and lead.

Daryl is survived by his beloved sister, Dr. Deidra Hill; nieces Nicole, Natalie, Nola, and Narissa Hill; his cherished Godson, Hassan Pye, God-granddaughter, Ava, and a host of family and friends.

On Tuesday, August 5, friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 508 P ST NW. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
