DAVID SELBY, Ph.D.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than 10 thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief... and of unspeakable love." David Selby, 78, died on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Georgetown University Hospital. At his side were his wife, Elaine, and his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Nanther Thangarajah. His final hours were filled with their voices, the music he loved, caring messages sent by family and friends, and the kind ministrations of attending medical staff. A private service took place at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home on Friday, August, 11, 2017. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions in Dave's honor may be made to one of his favorite charities: Heifer International, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, or the Environmental Defense Fund.

Dave - How I wish there were a way for you to know. On June 2, 2021, the David Selby Dialysis Parity Act was enacted into law under Article II, Section 17(c) of the Maryland Constitution. It follows three years of work to ensure, through regulatory oversight, a high standard of care for inpatient peritoneal dialysis in the State of Maryland. Undertaken with so much love, it is my legacy gift to you. as always, Elaine
