DENEVA VASSAR RILEY-LEVY (Age 50)  
Of Berryville, VA, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center. Deneva was born May 27, 1961 in Palo Alto CA, the daughter of the late Ivan Harris Riley II and Vassar Star Mitchell. Deneva earned a degree in Horticulture from North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC. Deneva pursued a career in horticulture in North Carolina and in Maryland, until retiring from professional work to raise a family in 1994. Deneva was Vice President of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, and founded the Roots and Shoots program at DG Cooley Elementary School. Deneva was an active participant in the community and was well known for her charitable volunteer work in Berryville, as well as her love for her farm, animals, friends and family. She married Douglas Edwin Levy on May 1, 1994 in Urbana, MD. Surviving with her devoted husband is her loving daughter, Meredith Taylor Levy of Berryville; her mother of Bethesda, MD; her brother, Ivan Harris Riley, III of Berryville; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Levy of Bethesda, MD; a sister-in-law, Ellen Kravetz of Essex MD; two nieces, Cara Sue Mizansky and Janis Bush of Baltimore MD; a great-nephew, Aiden Jakob Bush of Baltimore MD; a brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Lewis Levy, wife Janey, and nephew, Carl Philip Levy of Marietta, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 12 Noon at Grace Episcopal Church in Berryville VA (111 North Church St.) with Rev. Cannon Dwight L. Brown officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clarke County Humane Foundation, P.O.
