Doris Haley Obituary
DORIS MOXLEY HALEY
Beloved wife of the late George W. Haley and mother of David and Anne Haley, made her peaceful transition in the early evening hours of Saturday, October 6, 2018. Doris was an active member in the community both in Washington, DC and in Maryland. A retired teacher of the D.C. Public School System, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Service will be held on Monday, October 15, at 11 a.m., at Reid Temple AME Church (North Campus), 12101 Tech Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20904. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Omega Omega Service at 10 a.m. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements by McGuire.

I met Doris at the water aerobics class several years ago and we had a wonderful friendship. She loved her family and always told me about the trips she made with her grandchildren. She was a lovely person and will be missed by so many of us.

Miss Moxley, Opps! Mrs. Haley was our home room teacher for 4 years at Sumner High school. I think we were her first class. I adored her and was always so glad when she returned for our class of 1957 reunions. I will miss her and I'm sorry for your loss.

We will greatly miss our friend and neighbor. She was warm and friendly with a wonderful sense of humor. I know the Layhill Village Women's Club will always remember her with great fondness, and I will really miss seeing her on the treadmill at the recreation center. Sincere condolences to her family.

Dear Anne and David, you and our family our in my prayers. Doris will be missed by all of us she was definitely a pillar in our family. But now she presides in heaven with her heavenly family still probably making everyone laugh and smile. She may be gone but she will always be with you , with all of the wonderful memories.

David and Anne: It is with such extreme sadness that I write to express my sincere condolences on the loss of your mother --- the one who brought light and laughter to any room she entered. I truly regret that I am not there in person with you all today as you celebrate her fabulous life, but I am filled with thanksgiving of all the fond memories that I have of her and the love of her life -- her dearly beloved George. From sitting in the kitchen with them drinking coffee and orange juice while eating muffins, to dining with them on a Sunday after church at the club, to helping to make sure that got to the airport on time for an out-of-state trip, and so many, many more occasions that made my life so much more meaningful, I will forever cherish what the two of you shared with so many others in such a loving and unselfish manner. Thank you for the generosity of sharing your parents time and love with us. What a tremendous loss to the two of you, your children, and all who loved them. In our loss, it is only fitting that Dad now has his blushing bride back at his side and in his arms for an eternity. God's will has been done!!
