Dorothy Nesbitt Obituary

Dorothy Jean Nesbitt, 86, of Crofton Maryland, transitioned peacefully on January 7, 2026. She was born on July 27, 1939 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Henry Nesbitt and Willie Anna Nesbitt.
Dorothy's marriage to Bobby Nesbitt ended in divorce; however, through this union their three children are Bobby Nesbitt, Anthony Nesbitt, and Dr. Michaele Nesbitt-Johnson (Carl).
Dorothy married Dr. Merl Nesbitt in 1982. Together they pursued their academic dreams and traveled extensively.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara, Clara Pearline, brother Henry, husband Dr. Merl Nesbitt, and grandchildren Sherrell and Antonio.
Dorothy earned Associate in Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science degrees. She worked in the Federal government for thirty-seven years.
Dorothy leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her children, grandchildren John, Juanice, Keisha, Seth, Ian, Joel, Morgan, Courtney, and Cameron, greatgrandchildren, family and friends.
Services will be held on January 22, 2026 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E. Washington, DC; Viewing at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD.
Donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
