IT WAS SUCH A SHOCK TO HEAR OF ED'S PASSING. HE BROUGHT SO MUCH ENTHUSIASM TO OUR MUSIC PROGRAM HERE AT LAMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. HE HAD EVERY CHILD PLAYING SOME TYPE OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENT EVEN IF IT WAS STICKS. HE MADE UP A STAFF BAND AND AT OUR PTA MEETINGS THE STAFF BAND WOULD PLAY ALONG WITH THE STUDENTS PERFORMING. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. HE WILL BE MISSED.

I worked with Ed for one year in Fauquier Co. VA. I learned so much from him in just that short time. He had so much energy it was amazing. He touched so many lives for the better. He will be missed.

I met Ed at Frostburg soon after I arrived as a freshman in the fall of '66. He came into my practice room and took me upstairs on stage to where the Jazz Ensemble was rehearsing under the direction of Chris Gallaher. The group needed a piano player. I had never met Ed before, but he got me to join them that day. It was a delightful experience that lasted my 3 sememters at FSC. Ed never met a stranger and knew how to have fun together through music.

I knew Ed as a great band teacher at Jeffers Hill. The kids never sounded so good. I always looked forward to his concerts. He spoke of his son Ben with great pride. His passing came as a shock to me. I will miss him and his music.
