Eddie, it is really hard to believe it has been a year. After selfishly wanting to you stay, I realize God knew best. He saw the pain, extended his hand, and peacefully guided back to my sister and your grandson Ryan. We just thank God that you did not have to witness this pandemic on this side. Forever, my BIG BROTHER!

To my dearest brother-in-law (brother). I have questioned myself and wondered whether or not if I did enough! Did I make the doctors move fast enough? Was I sure about what I was hearing?

But, God has sent me the peace through my spirit telling me that I did all I could and it was simply your time. I knew Monday something was different but had I known it would be the last time I would lay eyes on you alive, I would have stayed longer!

As I traveled to your funeral last Thursday, I remembered the last time I would ever have you in my car for the final doctor's appointment on January 6, 2020. As I stood with you in the ER and said "I sure am hanging in there with you" and you said "you sure are." Then as always in your silent voice you said "THANK YOU!" Always thanking us for doing what family is supposed to do for one another.

Did not realize how hard communion Sunday would be for me until I stood up to serve and the tears started flowing. For it was the last thing Andre and I did on the 20th for you!

I love you and will miss you my dear brother - especially your calling and speaking to me in codes that I hardly ever could figure out!

Hoping you are with my sister - Sandra, my mom, dad, and your first grandbaby.

Your work here was done and boy did you WORK IT!

A void that will never again be filled but I know God has the masterplan. WELL DONE dear Eddie, well done!!

Love, Sharon

To Ed's Family,
I worked closely with Ed for all my years at the FRB in our statistics' years. Ed and I tested and supported the installation of Board STAR. My respect and true affection for Ed borders only on Pat Welch and Martha Bethea. Plus Ed supported all Districts with utmost professionalism and quality.

I will miss Ed so much and so will the Entire Statistics Function of the Federal Reserve. Good Bye my Friend. Bob Black

Ed was a "Fed famous" person. He was an expert on various systems and processes at the Board of Governors and helped my staff at the San Francisco Fed many, many times. He also worked with people at all the other Reserve Banks. Many times when people heard I was taking a trip to the Board, they would ask if Ed McDowell was still there. He really was Fed famous.

Ed's passing is truly a wakeup call. Colleagues for over 40 years and always a true gentleman. I recall Ed as a hand dance instructor at FRB and teaching me the basic steps. So sorry for your loss.
