Elaine Mikk

Elaine Mikk, of Brinklow, MD passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. She grew up in Milford, CT and attended Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Education and earned a Masters Degree from Johns Hopkins University. She met her husband John while in Connecticut and they moved to Maryland where they started their family. Elaine was an elementary school reading specialist in Montgomery County and was on track to becoming a school Principal when, in 1983, she and John gave up their careers to start their family owned business Cabinet Discounters and later Creative In Counters and Brighton Cabinetry.
Elaine was the host of a weekly radio show on WMAL radio called "Home Innovations" for several years. She was also very well known as the voice of Cabinet Discounters on radio show ads on numerous radio stations.
Elaine was an entrepreneur and a very successful and respected business woman. She loved animals, especially dogs, and feeding the various wildlife in her neighborhood.
Elaine is preceeded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Mikk Sr. She is survived by her children John Mikk Jr, Darrin Mikk, and Lisa Bichner along with their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Paul Harlin and his wife. The family will be holding a private ceremony of life.
