Tragically departed this life on Sunday, August 19, 2007. He leaves to mourn his passing, loving parents, John and Denise Williams; a devoted sister, Rongalyn Edwards (Carl); a loving and devoted brother, Terrance Williams; grandmothers, Minnie Williams and Rose Wabbington; eight aunts; three uncles; two nephews; a very special friend, Alexis Morrison; many special cousins; other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. until service 11 a.m. at Bible Way Temple, 1100 New Jersey Ave., NW. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements by McGUIRE.

Today is the last day for your guest book but don't think this will be the end of our conversations. It was a lonely but productive year. I will miss writing to you. Calvin is doing really well in school at Alice Deal and he loves it. He also is playing the trombone now. We regret that you will miss his recital. We will see you when we get there. I am just getting a chance to write to you. Calvin and I always think of you. The boys will be in the 7th grade this year. They are growing so fast. They also miss you. Every time we walk pass 20th Street, we laugh about you taking down the wallpaper.

At some point this time had to come, and yes with time it helps us to move on with life ... as tomorrow officially marks one year since your passing, the 18th was the last day me and you spent together...with so many thoughts going through my mind about then and now...this prayer still stands out to me...

Just wanted to let you know you are on my mind, I see other people are still missing you too. Just the little things, we as humans can't help but take for granted. I so miss the little things, just the simple ones of having your presence. You were such a spirited man. People just don't understand sometimes how hard its been for me to deal with this and move on. I know by now you have met up with your uncle, Bubba. He was laid to rest at Fort Lincoln on 2/9/2008. Now heaven is your address, my father's address which Bubba is right next to him. It's hard losing someone you did everything with, a best friend, a brother. It's crazy we've gone through and survived so much together and this is how you go? I guess life is funny like that. Gavin, is my first cousin on my mother's side of the family and will always be! He was a great person, as a little boy growing up he use to clown around with me when I would come from Alabama and visit in the summers in DC with my Aunt D and Uncle Elliott. He was outgoing, very responsible, intelligent, and always having fun. He wanted more out of life than the average Joe. Gavin, didn't have a bunch of kids everywhere he was a positve role model. I was very proud of his accomplishments and he had a sense of humor that was out of this world. It hurts me to know he's gone physically but, he is and will forever live in my heart. I remember us hanging out for my birthday, and the family cookouts. I will never forget when he told me in June he was proud of me, but yet,I was the one that was proud of him! Gavin had an old soul at 25 I wish more young adults were like him. He loved meeting new people,his family, going to church, and aspiring to become a great young man. Gavin, you will be missed.

I can't comprehend the fact that you are gone. In my mind, it seems that you are just missing from the picture. Its been awhile since I last say you, but everytime we did run into each other, you were telling me of only good news. When I heard, I brushed it off for I knew there are a billion of people that go by the name of Elliot William. But as I now realize, there is only one real Elliot Williams. I had the wonderful opportunity of being Elliott's Class Officer while he was training to be an MPD Police Officer. Thinking back on that makes me smile because Elliott would often crack me up. He was such a fine young man and I can't remember one time I saw a frown on his face. He was such a compassionate person and I'm so very sorry to hear of his passing. It was a honor and great privilege to know Gavyn. His toothy grin and charismatic laughter were infectious!!! He was a wonderful, thoughtful and caring companion to my sister Alexis and a fantastic role model to my nephew Malik. Whenever I came home to visit, it was so much fun to see Gavyn to catch up on what was new in his life. He will be greatly missed...what an angel we all now have smiling down upon us!!
