Nana, it has now been over two years since you went home. Chris and I are making it through some pretty rough times right now, but, I remember the stories of the past and the hard times you made it through. Nana I still miss you more and more every day. I talk with Mom every day and now more than ever I know why my Mom is who she is. Mom and I always tell each other we love each other and I know that is because you always showed us such love. Always know that we loved you so very much and will see you in heaven one day.

As a pastor I meet and get to know hundreds and hundres of people. And every now and again, I have the privelege of meeting and getting to know some remarkable and unforgetable people. Elise Kauffman is one of the remarkable and unforgetable ones.
First, her love for her Lord has always been personal and passionate. Her life goal was to always please him and share His love with as many people as was humanly possible.
And her love for her family was without limit and always unconditional. Anytime she spoke of them, it was with great joy, great pride and great love.
And of course her love for friends and people was always apparent. People young and old were drawn to her because of her unconditional love and the conviction she genuinely cared about them.
And what I love about Elsie is that she took her love for the Lord, her love for her family and her love for people and mixed them all together to make sure through prayer that everyone knew they were loved her Lord, loved by her, and were loved by one another.
Her life, her love and her prayers will always be rememberd by this pastor as a shining example of how a true Saint is to live!

Dear Elsie,
Although you were blind, you had more insight that most sighted people. When we met at Capital Church, I introduced myself as Gene McGuire. You then asked me if I were Irish. From that moment on I became your "Black Irishman". We stayed in close contact even after you moved to Texas. It will be a real pleasure to see you again in Heaven. Then you will know, for sure, what kind of Irishman I am. (smile)
Love you,
Gene

Nana, On this first anniversary of your home going I just wanted to reflect on a few feelings I have. You showed me such love and were so willing to tell me the stories of the past that I liked hearing. I never grew tired of hearing about the good old days. Your sharing of the Lord with me was very special. I have completed my trip through the Bible and have started my second trip there. Your love of your family and friends was truly an inspiration to everyone you touched. Thank you for making feel so much a part of your family. Linda and I miss you very much.
