HAROLD SKEINS Obituary

SKEINS HAROLD SKEINS, SR. (Age 78) Of Fairfax, Virginia passed away Monday August 8, 2016. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Effie, and his son, Harold Skeins, Jr. Harold was the husband of Patricia (Frum) and father to Rebecca (Carey) Cole. Harold was the brother of Effie Mae Ayers, Kitty Ingram, Harry Skeins and Roy Skeins. Harold was also the grandfather of Morgan and Forrest Cole, Megan and Haley Skeins, and many nieces and nephews. Harold was born on February 2, 1938 in Chesapeake, West Virginia. He went to, and graduated from Charleston High School in 1956 and on December 27, 1957 Harold married Patricia Frum in El Paso Texas and soon after moved to Fairfax. Harold worked in the Army residing at Popes Head Military Base, C&P Phone Company, and after 34 years, he retired from Bell Atlantic in 1993. Harold was known in many ways: Dad to his children, Peepaw to his grandchildren, and Sonny to his siblings. He was a family man and loved bragging about his family to everyone. Harold was also an animal lover. Throughout his life, he had numerous pets. He loved his cats, and he loved fostering animals such as raccoons and squirrels. Harold had a routine. Every morning, around 7 a.m., he would sit with his friends at the local McDonalds and eat his biscuit and drink his coffee. When he wasn''t at home or McDonalds, you could always find Harold at the basketball court. Every day he would play pick- up games with the neighborhood kids and always out-shoot anyone that came up against him. His signature move? The 3-point shot. During the winter time, he would never miss a basketball game at Fairfax High School and loved seeing games at Eastern Mennonite High school and James Madison University. Finally, at the end of every day, he would finish the day by relaxing in his recliner drinking a diet Pepsi and eating a Reece''s Peanut butter cup while watching Jeopardy. Harold was a family-man, role model, jokester, and the best basketball player around. He was looked up to by many people and he will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Monday August 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Fairfax Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 16 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations out to Fairfax Baptist Church. www.fmfh.comwww.fmfh.com

I remember Mr. Skeins (Harold). I grew up near him as a neighbor on Collier Road. He was always playing basketball off of Sagar Road. Harold, I remember the last time I spoke with you on Collier Road about 2015. You complemented me on my GF and you were happy just as usual when you drove by. You were on your way to play basketball I believe. Messed up what happened at McDonalds. RIP Good Harold.
