REEVE-HUBER INES KARIN REEVE-HUBER "Frau Reeve" Fairfax County German Teacher Ines Karin Reeve-Huber, 66, a former Fairfax County Public School German teacher of 30 years who was active in local as well as state-wide cultural and political groups, died October 11th at Fauquier Hospital due to complications related to Amyloidosis. She had lived in the Washington area for 48 years, 28 of which in Reston, VA. Ines Karin Safika was born in Stuttgart, Germany, immigrated to the United States with her mother in 1956 and settled with other family members in Vineland, New Jersey. She moved to Washington in 1960 to attend American University and after four years earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She started teaching in 1964 and went on to complete her Masters of Linguistics at Georgetown University in 1985. Throughout her career, she worked to foster an understanding between German-speaking nations and the United States. Mrs. Reeve-Huber developed and sponsored a student exchange program between South Lakes High School and the Gymnasium (High School) of Bad Oldesloe, Germany. Over ten years, the program influenced over 100 students, sending Restonians abroad and welcoming the same number of German students to live and study in a foreign country. She also spent three years abroad as a Fulbright scholar, teaching English and American Studies in German cities: Bad Oldesloe, Leipzig and Alpirsbach in the Black Forrest. After retirement to Warrenton, VA, she was active in the Citizens for Fauquier County, a group promoting managed growth and the preservation of historical communities. Her marriage to Guy Morgan Reeve III ended in divorce. Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Friedrich Huber of Warrenton; two Children from her first marriage, Dr. Gwen Johanna Grewe of Portland, Oregon and Guy Morgan Reeve IV of Wiesbaden, Germany; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at MOSER FUNERAL HOME, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, VA on Saturday, October 18, 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Amyloidosis Treatment and Research Center, Boston Univeristy, School of Medicine, Amyloid Research Fund, 72 E. She was a great German teacher and I thank her for helping to establish the cultural exchange program between South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia and Theodor Mommsen Schule in Bad Oldesloe, Germany that I participated in its first two years of 1987 and 1988. Tschüs, Frau Reeve.
