JAMES WILLIAM BOWSER, JR. (Age 93)
On Monday, July 29, 2013. Died at his home in Gaithersburg, MD. The devoted son of the late James William Sr. and Roxie Neel Bowser, he was born in Tazewell County, Virginia; his family moved to Washington DC's Mount Pleasant neighborhood in 1929; and for many years he returned to his grandparent's farm in Virginia to help during the summers. He married Louise Patricia Farnsworth and had two children before he was called up to military service in 1944 for World War II, serving in the Army 2nd Infantry Battalion at the Battles of the Bulge and Ramagen Bridge. After the war, he returned to his government position at the U.S. Treasury, had one more child, and retired after 30 years, with his final position being Assistant Chief of the Cash Accounting Division. His marriage to Patricia ended in divorce. He later married Vivian Foley Bowser. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Bowser, sister, Betty Ann Slayton, his first wife, Patricia, his second wife, Vivian, his son, CWO James Warren Bowser USN, Ret., and his daughter, Stephanie Louise Cohen. He is survived by his son, William Bowser, daughters-in-law, M.A. O'Donnell and Betsy Bowser and six grandchildren.Inurnment is pending at Arlington National Cemetery.Please view and sign the family guest book at:www.PumphreyFuneralHome.com

My condolences to the entire family on the passing of my Uncle Bill (James) Bowser My mother, Bill Bowser's Aunt Diana, was very unhappy to hear of his death as she has many nice memories of him as a young man in Washington DC. after WWII. Cousin Bill, my thoughts are with you. From your cousin Mary McMahon and her husband Michael in San Diego, CA.
