Jeffrey Silverstone It is with sad regret we announce the death of Jeffrey Silverstone on June 3, 2021 in Takoma Park, Maryland. Jeffrey is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margreta Silverstone, his 16 year old son, Ozy, his sister, Eve Schneider of Fairfax, VA and his cousin, JoAnn Neusner of Combridge, MA and their families. He passed away peacefully at his home in Takoma Park as a result of cancer. Jeffrey was born in 1959 in Washington, DC and attended Georgetown Day School (GDS) where he developed an early interest in programming computers. Jeffrey received his MBA in Information Systems and Health Systems in 1990 from Case Western University and pursued his programming interest throughout his career. A few of his employers include: Jurgovan and Blair, Inc; Research Analysis and Maintenance (RAM), Inc. supporting the Army National Guard; L3 supporting the FAA; the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD); and Salient Federal Solutions. For the last 10 years while at Salient, Jeffrey worked on technical design and implementation of US export processes and other systems within the Departments of State, Commerce and Defense. Jeffrey enjoyed folk life activities. He was an avid contra dancer and a long time supporter of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington. He attended music and dance events around the Washington metropolitan area and was especially fond of traditional dance (contra, English, Scottish) and folk music. Jeffrey was devoted to his wife, Margreta, whom he met while dancing at Glen Echo. Jeffrey was also fond of his son, Ozy who shares his interest in technology. Jeffrey was happy to volunteer his time and programming skills to support non-profit work such as Faith at Work, the Seekers Church in Takoma, D.C. and the Takoma Park 4th of July Committee. For the last decade, he was known for his authentic Uncle Sam portrayal during the Takoma Park Independence Day celebrations. At Jeffrey's request, his body has been donated to Georgetown Medical School for the advancement of cancer research. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jeffrey has requested donations to be made to the Seekers Church in Takoma, D.C. (
