JOE JAHODA Obituary

JOE JAHODA
After 86 years of unflappable benevolence and wily wit, renaissance man, Joe Jahoda soared into the next life on July 22, 2016. He kicked off his working career as an electrical engineer, lending his exceptional brain power to a wide swath of forward-thinking enterprises and initiatives. Joe was active in the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE), the Edgar Cayce Foundation and was the founder and technical whiz at Astron Wireless Technologies. A brilliant inventor, he is credited with a series of consequential U.S. patents. A superior father and husband, he made a splash in far-flung corners of the earth and searched for the Hall of Records in Egypt''s Giza Plateau among many other adventures. Insightful, kind, and even-tempered, he used his immense powers for good. Joe made things fun, took fashion advice from no one, and was an unyielding ice cream enthusiast. He was a real fella. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his daughter, Mimi and her husband, John, and the rest of his amazing family - Kari and Brian, Carolyn and Marco, Kalli and Kasey. He will be missed by his feline friend, Carmen, and his favorite "doggie woggie" Chewie. If you have time to honor a little known legend, stop by the Money & King Funeral Home (171 West Maple Ave.) in Vienna, VA on Saturday, August 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. Come casual. What an amazing testament to a man who refused to be anything but extraordinary!
Inspirational!
I only met him once over 30 years ago, but got to learn more about him through others later on.

I didn't know Joe personally - and it certainly sounds as if that was my loss! But I have had the huge pleasure of having Mimi as my friend for over 30 years. Her smiling renditions of her very regular times with her father left me appreciating the man for his dedication & enthusiasm. To keep her coming every week, he made sure their times were exciting & ever changing. They played racquetball, went ball room dancing, took lessons in many things, went skiing when they didn't know how & camping when they had never been. She always looked forward to "Daddy Wednesdays". I thank him for this because I have benefited too. Of all my friends, Mimi is the only one that makes certain we see each other on a regular basis. She makes the contact, follows up, suggests the outing & never cancels. The thing is, she does this with ALL of her friends & family. So Joe, thank you for your leading ways & your wonderful daughter. Mimi, may the memory of the many good times you had with him cheer your path through this loss.
Much love,
Susan

Mimi, I didn't think it was possible to encapsulate someone's life in one long paragraph, and certainly there is a mountain of detail behind this obituary, but what an a amazing testimony! If we all lived as Joe did, think of what a fantastic place the world would be. Thankfully, he sowed enough seed to continue through his friends and family this outrageously wonderful way of looking at life. We will be there with you on Saturday. Much love to all--Mike & Donna

It was obvious that he and Sherry shared a very special relationship that was formed by mutual respect and love for each other.
