I have so many memories of Col. Pace, mostly in association with Mrs. Pace, who was one of my mother's closest friends. He was so smart and could be so funny and obviously enjoyed Mrs Pace so much. These loses are just so tough but we're thinking of you guys.

Joe,
I greatly respected and admired you.

You were such a positive role model.

I remember talking about our times stationed at the Pentagon (at different times) and it was a pleasure speaking with you whenever you came to see me at the Pentagon Clinic for your labwork. It was so nice reminiscing about military life.

It was also a pleasure speaking to you when we had family get-togethers.

Thanks for the wonderful memories.

You will always be remembered and treasured in my heart.

Your grandson, Joe Edward Pace was named after you.

I hope that he grows up to be as good a man as you were.

Love always,
Jessica

Elfriede and we became friends through our work with animals. We knew Joe a little, and knowing that he supported her in her work was all we needed to know about him in order to understand that he was a fine, honorable and caring man.

Liebe Tante Elfriede, Sonja, and Bryan, I always have in mind how gentlemanly Onkel Joe was: unfailingly kind and polite, he always made us feel welcome. I think of all the visits and the lovely Christmas dinner we had together back in the mid 90s.
Mom loved the birthday celebrations and all those times she would come and stay with you, Tante Elfriede, for the week. I have Onkel Joe's voice in my head. Sending you love always, Margaret

Dear Pace Family, I have many fun memories of time that Bryan, Mr. Pace and my father shared during our family holiday visits. I could never win a game of chess against Mr. Pace but he always made it fun challenge. I know that the friendship that Mr. and Mrs. Pace have shared with my parents has always been a very special part of their lives.

We are here to celebrate your life
And the measure and it's worth
And every single life you touched
While you were on this earth.
We wish to pay our last respects
That's why we all are here,
And to thank you for your friendship
And all the memories we hold dear.
Its been a privilege to have known you
We were family not just friends
And we will carry you in spirit
Until we meet up once again

"Capt. Joe Pace" was one heck of a great guy and advisor. On a humorous note I recall an after-military-ball party. Joe and his wife joined our PR officers and their dates. My future wife, and date Barbara, accidentally dropped an expensive earring on the shag rug. Joe joined us cadets on our hands and knees to find the missing earring. In the classroom he was a great instructor and very personable. A great example to us all. May God rest his soul.

I got to know then-Captain Joe Pace when he served as ROTC Faculty Advisor to the Pershing Rifles cadet organization at Northeastern University.

He devoted considerable time and effort to ensure the success of the organization while his mentoring significantly influenced the development of cadets like me who went on to successful military careers.

Eternal rest grant unto him.
