Of Ocean View, DE, died on Friday, April 30, 2004. Survived by wife, Anita Christine Quinn; mother and father, Jackie and Chuck Degen; brother, Steve; sisters, Kathe Gregg, Alice Degen and Gabriela Thrombley. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, DE on Tuesday, May 4, at 10 a.m. Friends were received Monday evening at the Bethany Chapel of MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES, West Ave., in Ocean View, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions to American Diabetes Assn., 110 S. French St., Wilmington, De. 19805.

Christie, Johhny was such an incredibly loving husband and a happy person. He never said a bad thing about anyone... I can hear him saying CCCCCarmine and Carmine got such a kick out of it. He is always in our thoughts and prayers. God has blessed you with McNevin and beautiful memories of Johnny saying "that's my girl." Now I think he gave you "your girl." He loved you so very much!! Johnny your Mom and I are leaving today for I Portland, Oregon where the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is honoring you for your commendable work. The thanks goes out to Lt. Garrison whom you worked with and all the guys that loved you there. I open this guest book at least once a week to read any new entries. This, of course, is my first because I never know what to say. I didn't know you on you wedding day - 8 years and 2 days ago but am grateful for the years that I have. I think of you often which is evident by the number of times I call or beep you each and every day (haha)- I know I'm a pain in your butt! I think of Johnny often as well - it's amazing how often and when you least expect it he pops into your head. He's always around us and always will be. There are so many fond memories of Johnny. Somehow, even in this time of great sadness, we think of him always smiling and laughing because of the gift of love you both shared.
You asked for funny...the absolute funniest time that we remember was with you and Johnny on New Year's Eve 2000 millenium when we all were in costumes...you as Mimi and Johnny as Drew Carey. That was classic!
Another special memory of Johnny that stands out most was at your beautiful wedding. Watching Johnny as he saw you performing with the band, he shook his head in total amazement. We asked him what he was thinking of his new bride and he said, that you always were his "star".

I think all the girls in the office wanted a Johnny. A guy that opened doors for you, sent flowers for no reason, and brought you lunch even when you didn't ask him to. I know I wanted a Johnny. A Johnny is a real special guy, I finally got a Johnny this time.

Christie - I think about you and Johnny all the time and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the families everyday. You are such a very strong and beatuiful person inside and out with such a bright future. I know that times are tough, but you will get through this with the love and support from all of your friends and family. Never ever forget what great memories you both shared b/c you 2 had something very special and were lucky to have eachother. John will be forever missed and loved, but never forgotten.
You know how to get me if you ever need anything. I will see you very soon at the beach.
P.S. Don't forget Detroit vs. Pittsburgh Aug. 14th - I am sure Johnny will be joining us and he might not like me that day b/c I have to go with who pays me!!

The first time I saw your beautiful Johnny was at Seacrets, when he turned to us and asked what would we like to drink..I remember thinking what a gentleman, and a true gentleman he was, every meeting after that I was always greeted with a big smile and a hello. I want to Thank You for giving Johnny the wonderful years you spent loving each other, I know these were the happiest in his life. You ain't seen nothing like the mighty quinn! Since the day I had meet you two, This song has popped into my head, With out Johnny, Christie you may never have been the mighty Quinn! I know the days have been long for you since this happened, and we don't get our 11:30 lunch visits anymore, and everyone get's offered a bite of what Johnny made you for lunch but I know you will get through this with help from your friends and family. Christie, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you and Johnny. All I can remember is how your face would light up when you talked about him in the Bahamas.
