JOON SUH Obituary

Joon Won Suh
Of Fairfax, VA died peacefully at his home on November 1, 2017 All Saints Day, surrounded by his family. He was 86. Joon Suh was born in 1931 in Korea. He grew up in Seoul where he attended the prestigious Kyonggi High School and Seoul University. His university studies were interrupted by the Korean War. He served briefly in the Korean Army and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul as a bookkeeper, where he met his wife of 58 years, Bo. In 1959, they married and came to the United States where Joon enrolled at Georgetown University, graduating in 1966 from the School of Foreign Service. He later became a U.S. citizen; he proudly voted in every election until the end of his life. He worked as an accountant (later attaining his CPA) for the Cafritz Company, the Cafritz Foundation, and Calvin Cafritz Enterprises in Washington, DC and was a dedicated employee of the Cafritz family for more than 50 years, finally retiring in 2015. Joon Suh is survived by his wife, his son, Thomas Suh and his wife, Raechelle; his daughter, Joanne Suh; his daughter, Katherine Tranchemontagne and her husband, Marc; three grandchildren, Genevieve, Clara, and Daniel; and many relatives in the United States and Korea, including two sisters in Seoul.
