Joseph Edward Nash

Joseph Edward Nash passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, in Santa Fe, NM. He was 76.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, Joe graduated from Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, NJ. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Air Force, where he led teams developing computer programs for the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center during the Vietnam War. This was a formative experience that launched his lifelong career in technology.

Following his military service, Joe held executive technology roles at American Express, Time Inc., Intel Corporation, and Price Waterhouse Coopers. He spent over 20 years at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, DC, where he served as a Consulting Principal in the firm's Global Sourcing & Technology practice. There, he advised Fortune 500 companies on managing large-scale technology transactions and co-invented a patented framework to help organizations structure complex outsourcing arrangements.

A lifelong learner and avid reader, Joe spent more than two decades developing his passion for photography through self-study and workshops, always striving to learn and refine his craft. He used photography to engage with the world, often capturing overlooked landscapes and vernacular architecture throughout rural America. He frequently gave back through his work, volunteering to support local events and charitable causes.

Joe was known for his honesty, directness, and commanding presence—someone whose larger-than-life personality made an impression in any room. He maintained a wide network of friends and colleagues and was deeply committed to education, taking immense pride in providing his three children and two stepchildren with opportunities he had not experienced himself.

To his nine grandchildren, he was simply "JoJo." He will be remembered with deep affection for his photographic memory, his way of holding court at family dinners, and his guidance—always clear and direct—offered on everything from everyday decisions to life's bigger questions.

Joe is survived by his children, Elizabeth Nash Eriksen, Timothy Joseph Nash, and Theodore Russell Nash; as well as his stepchildren, Matthew Russell Holberton and Alexandra Holberton Wight. He is also survived by his first wife, Judith O'Mara Nash. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gale Russell Nash; his mother, Rossella Kutchman Nash; and his father, Joseph Edward Nash Sr.

A memorial will be held in Washington, DC, at a later date.
