Although I have never met Joe in person, we had many interesting telephone conversations. I would call my daughter, Carla Rogers, at the FAIR Office and Joe would answer the phone. Joe was one of the most pleasant individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of talking with. He was always helpful, friendly, and gave very good advice. He was a definite asset to the Office, and projected a friendly and professional image. I know Joe will be greatly missed by his friends and co-workers. I am so glad I had an opportunity to connect with this wonderful individual. Thank you Joe for all the times you made my day a little brighter.

Joe,
You know we love you to pieces, including Briar a.k.a. "Bonkers" whom you totally doted on when you came over. We will miss knowing you are among us, even if you weren't near. And what of Ed Zachary? We are blessed to have known you and called you a friend. Too few good people and now one less. We miss you. See you on the other side Joey.
Bright College Years
words by H. S. Durand, 1881
music by Carl Wilhelm
Bright college years with pleasure rife,
The shortest, gladdest years of life;
How swiftly are ye gliding by!
Oh, why does time so quickly fly!
The seasons come, the seasons go,
The earth is green or white with snow,
But time and change shall naught avail
To break the friendships formed at Yale.
In afteryears, should troubles rise
To cloud the blue of sunny skies,
How bright will seem through mem'ry's haze,
Those happy, golden, by-gone days!
Oh, let us strive that ever we
May let these words out watchcry be,
Where'er upon life's seas we sail:
"For God, for Country, and for Yale!"
Go Elis!

Joe was a fellow crossword puzzle enthusiast whose friendship and good humor were always a pleasure. He provided imperturbable service to our members and the public often under heavy pressure. He is missed.

I was trained by Joe last May as FAIR's receptionist. I will always remember his professional encouragement and kindness that influences my success at FAIR. He also provided the extra confidence , in such a comical fashion, that I needed, making this career change at age 51 :-) ! I will miss Joe.
