I think of Juan often; there are so many things and places here in Cheverly that remind me of him and make me smile. I also think of you--Linda, Ian and Lexi--and I hope that smiles are gradually replacing your tears when you think of him. Love, Larry Beyna

Juan had such a joy of life that everyone who had the privilege of getting to know him and calling him friend felt so truly blessed. To his family - thank you for sharing Juan with us, we now share your heartbreak. He was such a good person.

It will take a long, long time to get over this. As a neighbor of Juan's for the last ten years, I can say easily how much joy and love he brought to the neighborhood. His kindness, generosity and simply overall good humor, was a blessing to all who knew him. You could turn to Juan for anything from advice to help in getting a kitten out of a tree (he actually did that with me once). He made our world a better place every single day. I will miss him enormously. My heart goes out to Linda, Lexi and Ian. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

The shock from hearing of Juan's passing has yet to wear off, and the sadness will take a long, long time to give way to the joy of having known and worked with Juan. Juan's expertise, creativity, honesty, kindness, friendship and great sense of humor in his role as Director of Cheverly's Dept. of Public Works helped make my 12 years as mayor from 1992-2004 easy and enjoyable ones. He was one of a kind, and I will miss him greatly. Love to Linda, Lynda and Ian and their families.

I started teaching with Linda 29 years ago and I remember being invited to their block party where Juan was the life of the party. Linda and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so very sad to learn of Juan's passing. I met him through my work at the Takoma Park Police Dept. Always smiling and making me laugh. May everyone's memories of him be a comfort. RIP.
