Katherine Carroll Obituary

CARROLL KATHERINE ROBERTA CARROLL Nurse Administrator D.C. Government Katherine R. Carroll, 75, a retired Nurse Administrator with the Long Term Care Administration of the D.C. Government for 42 years, died on October 7, 2007 at the home of her daughter Dr. Dawne Carroll. Mrs. Carroll was a resident of the Washington area since 1956, and lived in Alexandria, VA. She was a native of Spartanburg, SC, and grew up in Greensboro, NC. She began her college education at Bennett College, and graduated the top of her class from Dixie College of Nursing. She later received a Masters in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Mrs. Carroll began her nursing career as a pediatric nurse at D.C. General Hospital, later becoming the Director of Nursing at D.C. Village, and finally worked as an Administrator for Long Term Care overseeing Nursing Home Facilities in the District. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Jack C. Carroll, and is survived by two daughters Dawne Carroll, MD and Jacqueline Carroll Gilds Esq, and one Grandson Jason Charles Ballard Carroll Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday October 15, 2007 at Mount Olive Baptist Church1601 13th Rd., South Arlington, VA, Rev James Victor officiating. Interment at Quantico National Cemetery.
