I have learnt with dismay of Katheryne’s passing. I can never forget the sound of her laughter, her elegance, her friendship in good times and difficult times, her generosity and love, and the splendid times in her company in Somalia, Georgetown and Shepherdstown. Kathy will be so much missed in so many ways by so many of us - may God bless her soul. Deepest sympathies to dear John, Tina, Michael, dearest Lizzie, and all the grandchildren, from 'Rer' Suleiman.

I had only known Katheryne briefly when I worked at the Kinkos in Juno, FL, but what a gracious lady.
She was making copies of some of her art work and gave to me a signed copy of "Three Friends Making Bouillebaisse". It is framed and has a place of honor in my kitchen. Her loved ones are in my prayers.

We each have our thoughts and memories of Kathy as she had the knack of making each person she met know that they were special - RIP dear friend.

Kathy Loughran ( known more affectionately as Mama Lovey) was one of the most extrodinary individuals I have ever met and her joy of life and people will clearly be missed. She treated everyone with respect and encouraged them to do their very best at whatever they did. Her love for Africa and Africans (Gambian, Senegalese and Somalian) have left a lasting impression in each of those countries and her work will long be remembered. Notice of her death have gone far and wide and her friends are now respondding. Kathy Loughran --wife mother, artist and mentor -- may God bless her soul.
Our sincere sympathies go to John, Tina, Liz and Michael and all the grandchildren. Thanks for being a part of my life --love to you all.

On behalf of the Lighthouse Center for the Arts, the Board of Directors, its member and students we are deeply and profoundly saddened at the loss of our friend, teacher, patron and beloved member. Words are not the medium for Katheryne so instead we paint the sky with colors and hope for a strong wind to sent our love to her beloved husband John and the children, grandchildren and family she loved so much. God's continued blessing.

Over the years, we all learn that death is not easy and it is a time to reach out to family and friends. Kathy and her family were part of my Peace Corps history almost 40 years ago.
My wife, Teresa and I send our condolences to John, Liz and Tina and the entire family. May you reach out in this time of need.
Respectfully,
John H. Meyer and family
