Larry Weiner

1944 - 2024

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Larry was born on April 22, 1944 and passed away on July 20, 2024. He was married to Margie Weiner for 39 wonderful years until her passing in 2008. Together, they raised two children: Sam, who resides in Kensington, MD with his wife Heather and their son Trevor and daughter Presley; and Alexis, who lives in Danville, VA with her husband Scott and their two sons, Xavier and Hayden. He also is survived by his loving sister Fern Canter and her husband Sherman, and their three sons, Hal, Eric and Jonathan.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Larry moved with Margie to the DC area in the early 1970s. The couple made Rockville, Maryland their home for many years, with memorable sojourns of one year in London and six years in Philadelphia before settling back in Silver Spring.

Larry's academic journey saw him earn a bachelor's degree in Russian and pursue a doctoral degree in Slavic Linguistics. His professional life was largely dedicated to retail, a path influenced by his early experiences working in his parents' furniture store in Pittsburgh.

Larry found joy in running, playing racquetball, reading, watching sports and spending quality time with his family. With the arrival of his grandchildren, Larry's greatest joy became spending time with them.

In every way, Larry encompassed the best of what it means to be human. His life was a testament to kindness, love, generosity, and genuine connection. We should all strive to emulate his way of living, cherishing the impact he had on our lives.
