Mary Theresa Riviere 1932 - 2023
Our Own Mother Theresa
Mary Theresa "Terry" Riviere, 90, died peacefully on February 26, 2023. Our world lost an exceptional being--and Heaven gained a magnificent Angel. She is survived by her loving children Nancy, Rick (Alice), Steve and Patti (Joe) and her beloved grandchildren Rebecca, Molly (Zachary), Allison (Joshua) and Zoe. Born in Munster, Ontario, Canada to Matthew and Mary Lennon, she grew up in a boisterous, close-knit family of eight children in Ottawa. As a newlywed, she left Canada to live in the U.S. settling in Illinois in 1955 and relocating to Virginia in 1957 where she remained and raised her family, earning her U.S. citizenship in 1995. She earned an Associates degree in accounting in 1981 while employed by CTI, a small engineering firm where she had an accomplished career with 25 years of distinguished service. Terry displayed a servant spirit, and lived her Catholic faith dedicating more than 30 years as a promoter of Women's Retreats. She was equally devoted to her children and extended family (including her second family of Bowsers), and fiercely loyal to her friends (just ask the Beach ladies). She shared an Irish sense of humor, never paid full price, and won the heart of all she met. Terry was a giver to the end as she selflessly donated her body to the Georgetown Univ. School of Medicine Donor Program. A Celebration of Life mass will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at noon at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2907 Popkins Lane, Alexandria, VA with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to SOME (So Others Might Eat), http://www.some.org.

We are so happy Terry was able to come to our wedding back in June. It meant so much to have her there and with the Riviere gang! Sending our love and support to all. What a great loss for your family but what a gain for Heaven. We love you!
