MATTHEW WAID Obituary
Matthew Burns Waid (Age 51)
Of Alexandria, VA, died unexpectedly at his home on September 12, 2018. Born December 26, 1966 in Mexico City, he was the son of John Robert Waid and the late Priscilla Anne Burns Waid. Matt was a graduate of the University of Miami and worked in the marketing and graphic arts industry for over 30 years. He enjoyed scuba diving, playing hockey, traveling to Mexico, cooking for family and friends, and most of all being a dad. He is survived by his children, Jack Watson Waid and Lucy Lorena Waid; father and wife, John and Lynne Waid of Charlottesville, VA; two brothers, John Patrick Waid of Atlanta, GA, and Adam Luke Waid of Richmond, VA, and their families. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Robert Waid. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria on Monday, September 17 at 10 a.m.

I always remember you on your birthday and when hockey season starts. I remember the fun times we had at the panther games in sunrise with my mom.

Just now hearing about Mathew's passing, I'm so sorry, my thoughts and prayers are with the Waid family. I grew up with Matt in Mexico and have great memories of a fun childhood with the Waid boys. Everytime I got in any trouble, somehow Matt was there. Not sure who was the instigator but we stood up for each other. You can't ask for a better friend than Matt.

"Bird" Waid... at Univ. of Miami ... wow... he was a magical brother, could have been the funniest human I've ever known. From my family to yours... our sincerest, heartfelt condolences... I had the good fortune to work with Matt. He had an incredible heart and wicked sense of humor.
I especially loved going to hockey games with him and my mom.
