Melody Miller
In loving memory of Melody Miller, who passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Melody was a loyal friend and public servant. She was blessed with a very full life. Melody loved her career and family dearly and extended her family by adopting people and rescue animals along the way. She especially loved her furry "children." In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in her memory to your own local animal shelter.
Please join us to celebrate her life on January 9, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the National Press Club, 529 14th St NW, Washington, DC. A life so well lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. For the last twenty years, Melody & I became close & unusual friends. We met fortuitously in Senator Kennedy´s office in the Russell Senate Building. Beforehand, it had been Senator Laxalt´s office. She was intimate in the Kennedy -Democratic world, & I was intimate in the Reagan-Laxalt Republican world. Because of our common beliefs in the importance of participation & loyalty, it did not cause problems for us. Instead, it created a deep pond. My last conversation with her was just three weeks before she passed. It reinforced her significance as a person of goodness, & the strength & mutual appreciation for our friendship. Her song will always be a part of me.

I remember her in our shared senior year high school class in gym class at Yorktown HS, in Arlington. Most seniors did not take PE but I needed the credit to graduate. She however was a superb athlete, always smiling, upbeat and cordial. So years later I learned of her Kennedy affiliation after contacting her. She remarked “they always had the country’s best interest at heart.” So did she. RIP
