MICHAEL D. HOBBS (Age 58)  
Of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Clarksville, MD passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 after a long illness, with his family by his side He was born May 30, 1954 in Bethesda, MD to Wilson "Will" and Louise (Bailey) Hobbs of Clarksville, MD. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 27 years Karen (Berg) Hobbs to whom he was a wonderful husband and by his son to whom he was devoted, Michael B. Hobbs.  Mike graduated from Atholton High School in MD and had an Associates degree from Columbia CC in marketing. He was a security professional starting out in the early '70s in his father's business in Washington, DC, American Safe & Lock and continued in the field at Safemasters in MD after the family business was sold to them. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and skiing. Later, his passion turned to gardening and cooking. He served many fine and creative dishes to the family with whom he treasured spending time. Michael had a wonderful wit and great sense of humor and loved sharing an exchange of ideas in conversations with family and friends. He also tremendously enjoyed listening to a wide range of music from classical to country. He was a protector to the family he loved and was loyal to friends for whom he was always willing to extend kindness and help if needed. Michael will be dearly missed by his loving wife; parents; son and his brother-in-law, David Berg and his wife Erica of Dresher, PA; niece, Amanda; nephews, Sean and Brian and his many cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra, his brother , Gregory and his brother-in-law, Maurice Michael Berg and in-laws, Marie and M. Michael Berg all of whom he missed dearly in his life. Family and friends are invited to the Connell Funeral Home at 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Thursday, April, 4, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. immediately followed by a candle lighting ceremony to celebrate Mike's life. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Linden St in Bethlehem. Michael loved animals and so missed his Shitzu, Georgie, a devoted companion. Memorial contributions may be made to animals in Distress PO Box 609 Coopersburg, PA 18036. Condolences may be made online at www.connellfuneral.com
