Maryann,
I am very sorry to hear about Mike. As soon as I heard the news, I thought about the good times we had as fraternity brothers and business partners with our hoagie business at St. Francis College. Michael will forever be in my prayers. God Bless you and your family. Andy Getsy, an old classmate of yours and Michaels

Maryann and family,
Mike hired me at BLS 35 years ago, and I'm sure he took some pleasure in the success I've had, rising to Deputy Commissioner. He should also have taken some credit as well. I learned from his example, not his words, that you don't cut corners, you work until the work is done, and you don't settle for second-rate, when first-class is possible. I was so proud when he put a gold star on the top of one of my technical memos that he had reviewed. It seems a bit silly for grownups to be giving and getting gold stars, but Mike knew the importance of recognizing good work, and not just taking it for granted. More than any work-related talents that Mike brought to BLS, and there were many, my clearest memories are that Mike was as good and kind a man as I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The joy his family brought him was obvious any time you talked to him. He has left us all too soon, and we'll all miss him. But in when you add it all up, he lived a wonderful life. He did important work, worked with people who liked and respected him, had a family who he adored, and got to see his children and grandchildren grow up. A lot of people would take that deal. My thoughts are with you and I'll always have warm feelings for Mike, personally and professionally.
