DR. MICHAEL E. SOLIN, 57, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, died Friday, September 17, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM after a prolonged illness. He was born in Springfield, MA June 25, 1947, the son of the late Myron and Barbara (Cohen) Solin. He received his B.S. degree in Life Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Medical Degree at Yale and completed his residency in Family Practice at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Solin maintained a private medical practice in Leesburg, VA for 16 years. While in Leesburg, he also acted as a Medical Examiner, Jail Physician, Medical Director for Springwood Psychiatric Institute and Heritage Hall Health Care, Medical Society President, Dept. Chief of Family Practice and Federal Aviation Medical Examiner. Subsequently, Dr. Solin joined the US Air Force where he served as a Lt. Col., Medical Officer, Dept. Chief of Family Practice, Chief of Allergy and Immunization Clinic, and Emergency Room Physician at Kirtland AFB, NM, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Aviano AB, Italy. He also graduated from the Air War College and served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of NM. He is survived by his wife, Enid L. Solin; sons, Joseph and David; and brother John. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held at Congregation B'nai Israel in Albuquerque, NM, on Friday, September 24, 2004, at 12 Noon. Burial will take place at a later date. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at his son's home, 2093 Clearwater Loop NE, Rio Rancho, NM. Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 8100 Mountain Rd. NE, Ste. 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
