Mitchel Dennis Obituary

Mitchel O. Dennis, Sr., 77, of Washington, DC, passed away on July 4, 2025. Born in Manhattan to immigrant parents from St. Thomas and the Dominican Republic, he was a proud U.S. Marine, two-time Purple Heart recipient, Omega Psi Phi brother, and lifelong public servant who retired from the DC Department of Motor Vehicles.

A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Mitchel found joy in family, Motown music, classic movies, Nationals baseball, and serving faithfully at Church of Our Saviour. He lived simply and fully, often saying, "Quiet. And quiet is good."

He is survived by his sons, Mitchel Jr. (Lashawn) and Michael (Terri); grandchildren Ra-Naa, Isis (Joshua), and Mitchel III (Keana); six great-grandchildren; sisters Drusila and Bernice; and many beloved family and friends.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I will forever remember Mitch as a very kind, personable and caring gentleman. He loved his sons dearly and wanted the very best for them. He was a
dedicated employee and manager who was consistently professional as he provided "service with a smile". I pray for comfort and peace for the Dennis family during this very difficult time.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I met Mitch in the late 1970s at the DC Bureau of Parking. He was always smiling and a wonderful co-worker. It was an honor to know him. God bless him and your family.
