Pamela Stitt Obituary



STITT PAMELA W. STITT On Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Washington Hospital Center, PAMELA W. STITT, age 74 of Washington, DC, passed away after a sudden illness. A loving, caring person, Pamela Stitt was the widower of saxophonist Sonny Stitt, an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and for years a teacher in the DC public school system. She is survived by her two children, Katea and Jason; daughter-in-law, Posie; cherished grandchildren, Johanna, Noah, Raina and Jazzmin; great-aunts, Alverta and Emily Ghassaway; sister-in-law, Theresa Gilmore; two nieces, Keisha Gilmore and Pamela Washington; one nephew, David Gilmore; and a cadre of grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved dog, Oops. Family will receive friends at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, 4606 16th Street, NW on Tuesday, November 25 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will perform Omega Omega Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her children request that donations be made in memory of their mother to the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation International, The Holly Building, 104 1/2 Forrest Avenue, Narberth, PA, 19072. Arrangements by McGuire.
