On Saturday, May 28 I ran in the Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Memorial "I Did the Grid" Run/Walk in East Northport, NY. Each runner had the names of four Fallen Heroes on their race bib, and we were asked to reflect on these warriors who had made the ultimate sacrifice while running the four mile course. Patrick Wade was on my bib. To his loved ones, I want you to know that I was thinking about his service and sacrifice on Saturday and today, Memorial Day. I just read his obituary on the EOD Warrior Foundation website and I am in awe of all of his accomplishments and bravery and his steadfast service to our country. God Bless and thank you. - Polly P.

To the family of Chief Petty Officer Patrick L. Wade:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.
Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.
If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.
Respectfully,

Chief, I think of you often and I will never forget the short time we spent together in Iraq. I always remember you as a loving father. I remember you talking to your youngest on the satphone. I don't understand why I wasn't on mission with you on that fateful day. I won't ever forget you and Jeff. We shared so many moments joking in the chowhall, on mission, and in the dayroom. What hit me so hard on that day was that loving father is gone and till this day I can't get the voice of your daughter out of my head. I can her say Hi Daddy! I Love you Daddy! like it happened yesterday. Knowing that she is without you hurts me inside brother. I hope all is well for your family. I can't believe it has been over 5 yrs. I still can't believe you're gone.

I've thought about Pat off and on for more than 20 years, wondering how he was doing and how his career was going.
We served together in MK VI, at MU FOUR, Key West. He was always smiling and never took anything to serious. Always ready to lend a hand without being asked.
When we were working and bored we'd make stupid noises back and forth from movies and TV shows, and he almost always pegged where they came from. One day he was checking the electricity in an outlet in one of our conex boxes on the water front, I quietly reached in grabbed him and made a loud electric noise. He jumped and started laughing. The rest of the night while we worked the animals, he would just start giggling out of no where.
Pat always gave 110%, a true "Team Player".
I'm truly sorry at his loss, but he will not be forgotten.

Wade Family,
I've been thinking about Pat this entire Memorial Day weekend.
I first met Wade ("The Wadesta") back in 1990 when I was assigned to EODMU Four, Key West, Florida. I had the priviledge of being his room mate in the barracks. He also helped train me as a mammal handler. Right away, I knew he was a "one of a kind" guy. Genuine, FUNNY, thoughtful, and unpredictable.
I'm compelled to write down all of the cliche thoughts that are running through my head, regarding the loss, and the sadness that goes with it, but those thoughts don't add up to the feeling of anguish that I have for your family.
I've been to this website a few times since Pat died, and I just couldn't bring myself to write anything. I was deeply hurt when I got the news.
After we both left seperately to attend EOD school in Indian Head, I would still ocassionally cross paths with Wade. He would always give me a smile and a nod, and we would speak as though we had just seen each other the day before, though it may have been years. I regret taking that for granted.
Just know that today, and on every Memorial Day, your son, husband, father, is in my thoughts, and in the thoughts of many like me.
The world was a better place with Pat Wade in it.
Homage to a Great Friend. I dedicate this work to you, currently on loan to the Fleet and Family Support Center in Rota Spain.

Three years it’s been and the pain is always there, but remembering your spirit and love of life and all its joys to give reminds us all to live and enjoy, for life can be short, but lived.
Looking at your children and watching them grow; you’d be a proud father at their beauty and glow. Smart and quick witted like their mother of course, you’d enjoy their humor, like their father for sure. Let us not forget they can be feisty and joksters themselves we love them and will guide them when ever we can.

Hi Keri,
I knew your husband Pat when he was stationed at Mare Island in Vallejo California several years ago. I only knew him for a short period of time, but remember that he was such a great & funny guy. He had such an energetic personality. He always kept you smiling and laughing all the time.
I just recently found out about your loss. I am sooo sorry for your families loss. I know that it has been a couple years now, but for you it may seem like only recently. I am praying for you, your girls and the rest of your family as you heal from this tragic loss. He truly will be missed.

I didnt know Patrick but I was a very good friend of Roberts (Bob) back when he was stationed in Arizona.
In any case I just wanted to say although Bob was a quiet man he spoke highly of his brothers especially Patrick and their combined loss is just un-imaginable. I hope this finds you at a time when strength has returned in your heart and life doesnt seem so unfair.
Best wishes, a friend from a far...

I loved Pat, we worked together in Key West. He is one of the most genuine, interesting, and fun-loving persons I've been priveledged to know. Although we never saw each other again after 1992, He was thought of often, living in my mind, and always will until we meet again. I only discovered the news a month ago. Just in-case you don’t have this picture, its been on my wall for 20 years. Thank You for the sacrifices given by Pat, and his wife and children, so that our families and our country are safe.

To the family of Patrick Wade. I just wanted to share my thoughts with you and to let you know that your son touched people in a positive way. I did not know your son personally, I was stationed on the USS Carl Vinson and know him only in passing and in the things that he did for the ship and the crew. He led a PT program that was awesome! He was a good guy who always had time to talk with others and had a positive attitude that was contagious. In the couple times that I talked with him I found him to be a person to be that had great integrity and pride in what he did. He was and is a person to be admired for who he was and what he stood for. I am sorry for your loss but hope you can take comfort in knowing that Patrick Wade is remembered by family, friends and people that he touched ever so briefly.

I'm so sorry. The video is beautiful and so was he. HTC (SW/AW) Mark Francalangia USN Active.

I woke up this morning thinking of the days in EOD school when Pat would wake me up blasting "80's Hairband Music" on his lil green boom box. I wanted to say I simply miss him...and Bob York-I have to agree with you, if any of us can be half the man Wade-dro was...we would truly be a success. I will never forget as I am honored to have known such a man, a PT god and along with EOD Style he was an Entirely Outstanding Dude!!!

Tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of one of the darkest days in my life. If I can be half the man Patrick was I will consider my life a success. He left behind a wonderful family. His loving wife Keri and 2 beautiful daughters Noelle and Esme. Please support our troops both those that are serving or have served and also the Heroes that have paid the ultimate price or have returned wounded. Especially remember those they leave behind. "OUR FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!" Rest in Peace Patrick. You are missed every day. I love you. Bob

I'm a reporter with 9News, and wanted to pass along something interesting. A bracelet for Pat Wade was found about a year ago up in Loveland, Colorado. A news tipper just got in touch with me about wanting to get it back to its original owners. I wanted to know if any of you might know of when or where his family could have been in Colorado, as we would like to return this bracelet to its rightful owner. Please send me an email at [email protected]. Thank you folks.

To Kerry, Noelle, and Esme. Today is a very special day. A day in which Americans honor our heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Along with honoring them, we continue to think of them, and the impact they made on our lives. Patrick left an indelible mark in our lives, and we are truly grateful for that. But even more grateful for his sacrifice. Something we can't take back, but will never forget.
Patrick, you know we still think about you and your quirky smile! We miss you my friend.

Pat and I served together at EODMU THREE and although not a Tech he never treated anyone less. We were all a part of the command and he treated you as a shipmate. I was shocked today to have heard and read of your passing and having served in Iraq you never think it is going to be a person you know and respected. Rest in Peace and my prayers to Pat's Wife and Children.

Keri and Family,
I am sorry for the loss of such a good man. I always think back to the times spent with you and Patrick in Rota. From day one when we went through base indoc, and throughout my time in Rota, he was a good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family this holiday season.

Patrick,
Just wanted you to know as we go through this Christmas season how much and often I think about you. Everytime I talk to Noelle and Esme I think about how much they remind me of you. Noelle's mannerisms on the phone and in person remind me of talking to you. Must be all that time she spent talking to "Daddy". Esme is getting to be quite the talker too. Keri is still the strong woman you loved and married. They all bring so much joy into my life. If only you could still be here with us life would be so much better. Know that you are loved and thought of often.

Keri,
Hope all is well with you and your children. Sister? Just want to drop a note and let you know each time I do pull-ups, I always push myself for one more. I say to myself "One more for Pat Wade".....and I am able to push myself over the top. Pat will always be there during my pull-up routine for the rest of my life.

Keri & Family,
I just recently found out about Patrick. I am so sorry for your loss. I was stationed with Patrick in Key West many years ago. He was a great friend he even invited me on a trip with his parents to Disney World. We had many adventures and misadventures during that time I spent in Key West.
After reading the many memories people have of Patrick it is easy to see that he turned out to be a great Father, Husband, Man and EOD Tech.
God Bless,

Patrick,
You will live in our hearts forever. We are all up on Lake Shasta remembering you on this 1st Annual Patrick L. Wade Family Fun Day.
Keri, Noelle, Esme, Melissa, Gary, Ann, Ashley, Heather, Derek, Ken, Kyle, Jessica and me. Your girls are so like you it is so reassuring that they will be ok. We stopped at the Memorial that Kyle, Jess, Matt, Lindsey, Doug, Jeananne & Dad left last year and it had survived a fire caused by a lighening strike. All the manzanita & pine had burned but that oak it is in front of stood strong like you. Imagine that. I miss you and think of you most everyday. I can't believe it has been a year. Love you always.

In Memory of Patrick ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Patrick, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
