Patrick McMurphy Obituary

McMURPHY PATRICK MICHAEL McMURPHY On August 30, 2008, PATRICK MICHAEL McMURPHY, age 23, beloved son, brother and friend, died surrounded by family and friends at Bellevue Hospital, New York City, following a tragic accident at his home in Brooklyn, NY. He recently completed a theater program at Stella Adler Institute in Manhattan and was happily -pursuing his dream. Patrick, born in Silver Spring, MD, November 7, 1984, was active in local professional and amateur theater, as well as with the Dickinson College Theater and is remembered for his spontaneity, sense of wonder and innate empathy. He is survived by his mother and father, Michael and Maureen; his brothers, Matthew and Kevin and the hundreds he touched through his acting, his generosity of spirit and his "shenanigans". A memorial service will be held at the Bullis School Theater, Potomac, MD at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 13. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that tax free donations be made to the Patrick Michael McMurphy Foundation, PO Box 60806, Potomac, MD 20859. The foundation will support theater, film, and music with special attention to children, youth and the disadvantaged.

Dear Maureen, Michael, Matthew and Kevin,
Our family is saddened to hear of the loss of Patrick. We knew him as a child, and the stories of his adult life indicate his youthful spirit animated him as a young man. Please know that we will hold that wonderful boy in our hearts and memories and will embrace all of you in our prayer despite our distance. May you, at the right time, find some rest in the sure and certain hope that he remains now in Peace after having achieved the happiness he had sought since his youth.
